Majestic Antlers

This wonderful guy actually posed for me!  Traveling Rocky Mountain National Forrest I just couldn't believe my good fortune encountering this scene.  It was one of those moments that take your breath away as you're driving...you slow way down, scramble for the camera, and hope the animal doesn't take off before you 'capture' the scene.  It was as if he was so proud to be getting my attention...he didn't flinch!  Just stood there in all his majesty basking in that wonderful late afternoon light.  I even had time to change lenses on my camera.  I called it a 'trophy' photo...and just knew I had to try painting him.   I learned much in the execution of this keepsake painting...one day for my heirs to enjoy.   What a wonderful memorable encounter!
