I WILL CONSIDER ANY REASONABLE OFFER!

This painting has never been hung on my wall, or in a gallery...only shown to personal friends and colleagues.  It has been boxed for protection all these years.  I am now willing to part with it for that very special home that it deserves - a collector that perhaps could afford the original - but will never get their hands on it - or one who just loves Monet, prefers original oils over prints, and won't settle for a production-house reproduction.  I have signed it 'after Monet' so there is no possibility of it being mistaken as other than what was intended.

This is a very special painting to me - a personal hand painted copy of one of my favorite paintings by Claude Monet...my favorite artist of all time.  His originals are a feast for the eyes, but just as importantly his life story is one of superb inspiration.  He truly embraced his craft as an artist and the life that he designed around it.   As a modern plein air painter, I truly appreciate what he went through to capture the vistas that he immortalized and SO appreciate his passion for the experiences he lived and breathed for.  Having also experienced cataracts, I can truly appreciate his later works as his sight waned...and his unwillingness to give up painting regardless.

The original of this painting is unattainable (hangs in the Musee d'Orsay in Paris)- and prints are prolific.  I decided I would try to copy his painting for two reasons: to learn from the master, and to have something other than a print of his work.  As I understand it, there are those who 'copy' masterpieces in the art world - individuals, and production studios - prices ranging from 300 dollars from production houses, to 100's of thousands of dollars - depending on the artist.  I am not 'known' in the reproduction art world and therefore cannot command those prices!  However, I will say, I have been told by people who have seen this is person - it competes with the best of them!

The original painting is appx. 23.5x31.5inches; this copy is 18x24inches...done on purpose.   It is not an 'exact copy' - but it is 'very close'!  I am very proud of the outcome, my family likes it 'better' than the original (!), and I learned tremendously from the experience of copying it.  It's ready to hang because of the back framing I do with many of my paintings (see second photo) - but I'm sure the purchaser will probably give it the gold frame treatment it deserves - and I wouldn't dare try to pick.  It will fit into a 'standard' 18x24 frame if you can find one you like...but the choices are endless for custom work.  I can't wait to see where this favorite of my paintings 'settles in' to it's new home.  If that might be you - and you are truly drawn to it - let's talk!
